Vaccine CC: How cricket clubs are helping give their community a shot in the arm
Lord's opens up as Covid-19 vaccination centre
Edgbaston will become the latest professional cricket ground to be turned into a Covid-19 vaccination centre.
The home of Warwickshire will be used to administer locals with jabs from Monday (March 15).
Injections will take place in the Exhibition Hall, with the club's facilities having previously been used for drive-through testing.
Lord's, Kent's Canterbury ground and Bristol, home of Gloucestershire, have also been turned into vaccination hubs during the national roll-out.
"We’re very proud of the community response that Edgbaston and our staff have made since the outbreak of COVID-19 and we are delighted that we can continue to play a major role in this by accommodating one of the region’s main vaccination centres," said chief executive Stuart Cain.
"As a venue and major business operating within the West Midlands, we’re committed to playing our part and to supporting the great work of the national vaccination programme and in helping the country fight back against COVID.
"Given the success of the vaccination programme to date, we’re very excited at the prospect of welcoming back crowds to Edgbaston in the coming weeks.
"To protect the health and safety of everyone, we recommend that everyone who is offered a vaccination that they take it at the first possible opportunity."
