England internationals Lewis Gregory and Nat Sciver are set to continue as captains of Trent Rockets in The Hundred in 2022.

The East Midlands outfit have leaned towards consistency in leadership ahead of the new season, which is now just days away, with Gregory and Sciver returning to the roles they held in the competition's inaugural campaign last year.

Twelve months ago, the men's side finished third while the women finished seventh out of eight.

Despite a leaner start for the women, Sciver seems confident in the squad they've developed for the forthcoming season and is looking to call upon the experience of fellow internationals Meg Lanning, Mignon Du Preez and Elyse Villani to improve on 2021's display.

"I can't wait to get started. We've obviously got some big overseas signings and a really exciting fourth overseas draft pick as well," she said.

"With a few of our girls coming back for a second year too, bringing that experience from last summer, it's a really exciting mix."

For the men, Gregory wants to see his side go one better and make a claim for the title.

He said: "Last year was brilliant, and now we have had a taste. Every county cricketer involved will be looking forward to it, I loved the challenge of captaincy last summer.

"It helps that I have a great bunch of lads who know what they are doing, it makes my job a lot easier. I can't wait to get cracking again, to meet up with all the lads and go slightly better than we did last year."
