Chief executive Richard Gould says "I'm looking forward to a very long and successful future for The Hundred" upon confirmation of Patel's imminent departure
Managing director of The Hundred Sanjay Patel will take his leave from the ECB at the end of the 2023 tournament.
Leader of the competition since 2018, Patel will remain in the role before seeking a fresh challenge elsewhere.
The third edition of the tournament runs between August 1-27.
Appointed as chief sales and marketing officer in 2015, Patel has been in sole control of The Hundred since 2019.
News of his departure comes amid uncertainty over the men's competition's long-term future, with discussions ongoing regarding the format and its future.

A recent review into the finances of the ECB suggests The Hundred has lost the ECB around £58.5 million.
Nevertheless, the first two tournaments have seen an improved uptake from families, while the women's competition has been a great success. Last year saw 22 per cent of tickets taken up by children and 28 per cent of ticket buyers being female.
Meanwhile, 14 million people have tuned in via the BBC and Sky Sports to watch on television.
"I would like to thank Sky, the BBC, and all our commercial partners for their support," Patel said.
"I would also particularly like to thank my whole team for their hard work and dedication in launching the competition. I will always be grateful for their support and friendship. We have come a long way in a short space of time and it is down to their brilliance.
