England white-ball World Cup winners Jason Roy and Dawid Malan face the uncertainty of The Hundred men's draft after being released by the champions of the past two editions, Oval Invincibles and Trent Rockets, respectively.

It leaves the participation of Roy, in particular, unknown given he is scheduled to return to Major League Cricket for the second season of his reported £300,000 deal with Los Angeles Knight Riders.

The American franchise competition, which runs from July 4 to early August, and The Hundred which begins on July 23 and culminates with Finals Day at Lord's on August 18, will overlap in 2024 having avoided one another last year.

Reigning champions Invincibles have opted to release both Sunil Narine and Heinrich Klaasen - key components in their maiden title triumph in 2023 - with both having played in the inaugural MLC.

Beaten finalists Manchester Originals have allowed Laurie Evans to depart along with Josh Little and Calvin Harrison.

Southern Brave, the inaugural winners who lost in last season's Eliminator, have allowed Devon Conway to depart but have kept the core of their squad together including New Zealand's Finn Allen - one of 10 retaining overseas players. A reshuffle in the Brave squad sees James Vince and Tymal Mills retained on improved financial terms.

Birmingham Phoenix have let go of Shadab Khan, Benny Howell and Dan Mousley, while the big names to depart Rockets include IPL-bound Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Malan, Colin Munro and T20 Blast MVP Daniel Sams.

England men's central contract pair Mark Wood (London Spirit) and Ollie Pope (Welsh Fire) are both unattached. Spirit have also offloaded Mason Crane and Jordan Thompson, while Fire will be looking for overseas seam reinforcements after Shaheen Shah Afridi (and replacement Lockie Ferguson) were released.

Northern Superchargers will have first pick in the draft on March 20 and will be eager to fill the voids left by Tom Banton, Adam Lyth and allrounder David Wiese. Meanwhile, Harry Brook has been retained on reduced terms.

More than a dozen players have been retained on enhanced salaries, which are frozen from 2023. They include Jamie Overton (now £125,000) and Paul Walter (£100,000) at Originals, Invincibles' Tom Curran (£125,000), Jordan Cox (£100,000) and Gus Atknson (£75,000) and John Turner (£60,000) at Rockets.

The full line-up of players available in The Hundred draft will be confirmed on March 4. The competition starts on July 23 when Invincibles host Phoenix at the Kia Oval.
