England internationals among Hundred wildcard beneficiaries

Ollie Robinson, Fran Wilson, Ravi Bopara and Mason Crane are among the players to have picked up Hundred wildcards

England Test hopefuls Ollie Robinson and Dillon Pennington are among the players to have picked up Hundred wildcards ahead of this year's competition.

Former England batter Fran Wilson has also been picked up by Birmingham Phoenix after not being selected during this year's first draft.

Ravi Bopara, another without a team after the 2024 draft, is returning to London Spirit, for whom he has played previously. Pennington has joined Northern Superchargers, while Robinson – as reported earlier on Monday by The Cricketer – is off to Trent Rockets, though the pair's involvement could be limited depending on England selection.

Josh Tongue, meanwhile, has been replaced by Hampshire's Scott Currie – on loan at Leicestershire – at Manchester Originals, with Tongue expected to miss the majority of the summer through an injury that is also likely to end his Test hopes over the coming months.

Mason Crane, enjoying a fine season on loan at Glamorgan, will play for Welsh Fire. Fellow leg-spinner Dani Gregory, of South East Stars, has been selected by Manchester, who have also signed Somerset quick Sonny Baker, who has spent much of the last two years sidelined by injury.

Rishi Patel, the T20 Blast's leading run-scorer for 2024, has joined Birmingham Phoenix, along with Aneurin Donald, who has enjoyed a fine T20 campaign with Derbyshire, striking at 203.96 and averaging 41.2 for 206 runs in just five games. Ryan Higgins, the second-highest run-scorer in this season's County Championship, will play for Spirit, Middlesex's local side. Gloucestershire's former South Africa quick, Marchant de Lange, has been picked up by reigning champions Oval Invincibles, who have also added Scotland's Mark Watt.

Laura Harris will also feature for Oval as a replacement overseas player for the first two games of the competition, ahead of Chamari Athapaththu's arrival. Likewise, Charli Knott – currently Southern Vipers' overseas player – will fill in for Smriti Mandhana as an overseas player at Southern Brave for the same timeframe. Suzie Bates, the New Zealand legend, has been brought in to replace Richa Ghosh for the first three games.
