Fixture: Yorkshire Vikings v Derbyshire Falcons

Venue: Emerald Headingley, Leeds

Dates: Sunday, June 20, 2021

Start time: 2.30pm

What's the lowdown?

The Jonny Bairstow-powered Yorkshire Vikings look to make it three victories from three completed matches when they entertain Derbyshire Falcons at Headingley.

The Vikings have won three of their five matches this season, with one lost to rain, to occupy second place in the North Group table thanks to their superior net run rate.

With Bairstow leading from the front, Yorkshire have smashed through the 200 barrier in each of their past two completed matches - notching up 240 for 4 against Leicestershire Foxes and 216 for 6 against Worcestershire Rapids.

Derbyshire have two victories from six fixtures in 2021 - against Leicestershire and Northamptonshire Steelbacks. They are seventh in the North Group but that position may not accurately represent performances, with the Falcons having pushed most of their opponents all the way - including defending champions Notts Outlaws, whom beat them by just two runs in their most recent outing.

Who's in form?

Jonny Bairstow spent the past week destroying the respective attacks of Worcestershire and Leicestershire - with 112 in 51 balls against the Rapids, and 82 in 45 balls against the Foxes. He hit much of his ton against Worcestershire on one leg, however, having sustained an ankle injury.

Beyond Bairstow, Harry Brook has 135 runs at a strike rate of 160.71 for Yorkshire. With the ball, Jordan Thompson's eight wickets have come at 13.25 apiece but with a relatively expensive economy of 9.63. David Willey (missing from this game on England duty) has seven at 18, but has also gone at more than nine runs per over. Adil Rashid (also away with England) is the most miserly of Yorkshire's bowlers in the tournament to date, with an economy rate just above seven.

For Derbyshire, runs have not been a problem - three batsmen have made significant contributions. Only Bairstow has more Blast runs in 2021 than Leus du Plooy's 268 - which has included two half-centuries. Luis Reece has three fifties of his own among his competition total of 211 at 35.16. Reece's strike rate for those runs is most impressive: 183.47. Matt Critchley also makes the top 15 runscorers in the Blast to date this year, with 158 at a strike rate of 137.39.

No one has more wickets than Logan van Beek in this season's Blast. The Dutchman has been flying, with 10 scalps coming at an average of 16.80.

What's the team news?

Joe Root returns to Yorkshire from international duty and captains the squad, with David Willey away with England. Adil Rashid is also missing, as is Jonny Bairstow.

Yorkshire Vikings squad: Gary Ballance, Dom Bess, Harry Brook, Lockie Ferguson, Will Fraine, Matthew Fisher, George Hill, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Dominic Leech, Adam Lyth, Josh Poysden, Joe Root, Jordan Thompson, Matthew Waite

Wayne Madsen will miss the entire Blast campaign through injury. Derbyshire name the same squad that was selected for the rained-off match on Friday.

Derbyshire Falcons squad: Billy Godleman, Luis Reece, Leus Du Plooy, Harry Came, Matt Critchley, Fynn Hudson-Prentice, Mattie McKiernan, Harvey Hosein, Alex Thomson, Brooke Guest, Logan Van Beek, George Scrimshaw, Michael Cohen, Conor McKerr
