Fixture: Northamptonshire Steelbacks v Leicestershire Foxes
Venue: County Ground, Northampton
Date: Sunday, June 20, 2021
Start time: 1.30pm
What’s the lowdown?
Two of the struggling sides in the North Group meet at Wantage Road, with both desperate for a win to kick-start their campaigns.
Neither Northamptonshire Steelbacks nor Leicestershire Foxes have won a game in the Blast in 2021, and will soon lose touch with the teams challenging for a quarter-final place.
The Steelbacks have a point on the board and are therefore above the Foxes purely because of the washed-out clash with Worcestershire Rapids on Friday.
Who’s in form?
Northamptonshire have generally struggled for runs over the course of the season so far, with no batsman having made in excess of 100 runs overall in the competition to date. With the ball, Tom Taylor is the Steelbacks' leading wicket-taker with six. Wayne Parnell and Graeme White are the most economical of the Northamptonshire bowlers - their overs have gone at 7.31 and 7.5 respectively.
Leicestershire have had more luck with the bat. Scott Steel has two half-centuries and a total of 154 runs at 38.5, though his strike rate is modest at 119. Overseas star Josh Inglis's record is similar when it comes to runs (155) and average (31) but his strike rate is destructive - 193.75. Inglis smashed 82 in 37 balls in the defeat by Yorkshire Vikings on Tuesday.
