Fixture: Glamorgan v Somerset

Venue: Sophia Gardens, Cardiff

Dates: Friday, July 16, 2021

Start time: 6.30pm

What's the lowdown?

Glamorgan are playing for pride in the remaining T20 Blast group games of 2021. They go into their clash with Somerset second bottom of the South Group, with three wins from 12 games.

They face a Somerset side locked in a battle for a quarter-final berth. Should Essex beat Hampshire in the day's early fixture, there will be two sides a single point below Somerset in fourth. Victory here, however, would send them through.

Who's in form?

Glamorgan have not played a Blast game for two weeks, leaving form a little hard to predict.

The Welsh side's top runscorer in this year's competition is Marnus Labuschagne, who has 294 from six innings and averages a half-century every other trip to the wicket.

With the ball, allrounder Dan Douthwaite has 14 victims at 17.85. Ruaidhri Smith is the most miserly member of the Glammy attack, his 15 overs going at under sevens.

Somerset's Kiwi batsman Devon Conway has been in entertaining form for the county in 2021. Conway has 235 runs at 59 in the Blast this season - but he registered a two-ball duck last time out as the West Country outfit were bowled out for 100 by Hampshire Hawks.

Marchant de Lange, with 13, is the team's top wicket-taker in the Blast this term.

What's the team news?

Marnus Labuschagne and Michael Neser both return to the T20 squad after missing the last three matches in the competition.

Seamer Ruaidhri Smith is also back in the squad after recovering from injury. Premes. Sisodiya is out with a side strain.

Glamorgan squad: Chris Cooke, Kiran Carlson, Dan Douthwaite, Colin Ingram, Marnus Labuschagne, David Lloyd, Sam Pearce, Michael Neser, Billy Root, Andrew Salt, Ruaidhri Smith, Timm van der Gugten, Roman Walker

Somerset will be without Tom Banton and Lewis Gregory (international duty), and Tom Abell (hamstring). Craig Overton returns and will captain the side.

Somerset squad: Craig Overton, Jack Brooks, Devon Conway, Steve Davies, Marchant de Lange, Lewis Goldsworthy, Ben Green, James Hildreth, Tom Lammonby, Jack Leach, Will Smeed, Roelof van der Merwe, Max Waller

Somerset have at least played a Blast game in the past fortnight, but they were trounced in it and are without several crucial players. Contrastingly, Glamorgan - freed from any worries about qualification - have their top best players returning. Home win.
