Shadab Khan is nursing "a sore neck" after being involved in a fielding collision against Somerset in the T20 Blast, said Sussex head coach, Paul Farbrace.

In the seventh over of Somerset's chase at Hove, debutant Shadab and Nathan McAndrew collided while both attempting to take a high catch offered by Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

Play was delayed for 10 minutes as the pair received treatment and while McAndrew was cleared to continue after passing a concussion test, returning figures of 0 for 30 from his four overs, Shadab left the field on the advice of Sussex's medical staff.

His exit deprived Sussex of a key bowler and Somerset went on to complete a five-wicket win with three balls to spare, Kohler-Cadmore contributing 72 runs off 42 balls.

"Shadab Khan is okay, although he's got a bit of a sore neck. The doctor felt it was best to take him out of the game," Farbrace said after the match.

"We tried to replace him with Henry Crocombe but the match referee [Steve Davis] said it had to be like-for-like, which is why Harrison Ward came on.

"It could have been a lot worse but that can happen when you've got two committed players going for the same ball in a swirling wind. The good thing is they're both okay."

Sussex are next in action on May 28 when they take on Surrey at the Kia Oval.
