England have released Sam Curran to play in Surrey's T20 Blast game against Sussex Sharks on Thursday after the allrounder was left out of the second Ashes Test.

Curran was the unlucky player to miss out on a spot in the side at Lord's, with Jofra Archer handed his debut, and his county will benefit.

The 21-year-old will hotfoot across London to the Kia Oval to feature against the South Group leaders before joining the squad for the trip to Hampshire on Friday.

Curran will also be available for the County Championship game against Hampshire at the Oval.

That game is scheduled to get underway on August 18.

If he is included in England's squad for the third Ashes Test against Australia at Headingley - due to begin on August 20 - he will leave the Surrey setup after the second day and his county will be permitted to name a replacement.
