Hampshire Hawks batsman Aneurin Donald has joined Derbyshire Falcons as short-term cover for Brooke Guest.
Donald has joined up with the Falcons ahead of T20 warmup matches against Lancashire at Old Trafford on Thursday (May 18).
Guest is waiting on the results of a scan on a hamstring problem, and could miss the start of the T20 Blast campaign, which is set to begin on Saturday against Lancashire at Edgbaston.
Donald played four times in Hampshire's 2022 title-winning campaign. An explosive hitter, he spent 2020 and 2021 on the sidelines with back-to-back major knee injuries.
"This opportunity provides Aneurin a great platform to get up and running in this season's Vitality Blast," Hampshire director of cricket Giles White said.
Mickey Arthur, head coach at Derbyshire, said "We need short-term cover for Brooke while he gets back to full fitness and Aneurin is a very talented cricketer, who we feel will step into the wicketkeeper role well for us.
"He's a well-established all-formats player and, having returned from injury in 2022, he was part of a side which reached the semi-finals of the One-Day Cup and lifted the T20 trophy."
