Leicestershire needed a new T20 skipper following Colin Ackermann's move to Durham
Peter Handscomb has been appointed Leicestershire captain for the T20 Blast.
He inherits the role from Colin Ackermann, who left Leicestershire for Durham ahead of the 2024 campaign.
Handscomb is no stranger to captaining the Foxes, leading them in three T20s at the backend of 2023. He featured five times in the competition last season, scoring 128 runs.
He has previously captained Victoria, Durham, Hobart Hurricanes and Middlesex.

The 33-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who is available throughout the season after signing a two-year contract in November 2023, has a solid record in the format throughout his career, scoring over 1,800 runs in 123 appearances and striking just below 120.
The Australian said: "I'm very excited to lead this team. The balance of the side looks good and hopefully we can perform to the standards we've set ourselves.
"We showed in the One-Day Cup last year what we can do in white-ball cricket, so it's an exciting prospect to try and replicate that in the T20s this year. We want to entertain and play a fun brand of cricket."
Director of cricket, Claude Henderson, added: "Pete holds all the necessary qualities we are looking for in a captain.
"Not only does he possess extensive leadership experience, but he is also an incredibly calm head on the field and a highly respected voice in the changing room."
