Worcestershire have secured the return of Colin Munro for this season's T20 Blast.

The 35-year-old has scored 8,230 runs in men's T20 cricket, the 16th most in history.

Available for the entire competition, Munro is the club's first overseas capture - Azhar Ali is only available for the County Championship - for the 20-over tournament.

He spent two seasons with the Rapids in 2014 and 2015, scoring 514 runs across the campaigns in 25 outings.

Munro joined Hampshire in 2018, hitting 211 runs in eight matches but is now back for a fourth spell in county cricket.

Last summer saw him return to England with Manchester Originals for the men's Hundred, though he has not been retained for the 2022 competition.

Despite having not represented New Zealand in the format since 2020, Munro is one of the most sought-after batters in the world.

In 2018, he became the first player to score three T20 international centuries. Now a regular on the franchise circuits, he has titles in the Big Bash League and Caribbean Premier League. In the men's T20 Player Index he is ranked No.73.

"I am really looking forward to returning to New Road," said Munro.

"I have fond memories from my previous stints at the club and hope I can play a part in us going deep in the competition.

"It will be great to see some familiar faces come May."

Cricket Steering Group chair Paul Pridgeon chair added: “We are delighted to sign a proven top drawer international player in white-ball cricket.

"We are delighted to welcome him back for another spell at New Road.

"It adds to the fire-power we’ve got at the top of the order, and his signing makes us even more competitive.”
