Sussex have signed up Archie Lenham to his first professional contract following a fine breakthrough campaign at Hove.
The 17-year-old leg-spinner has taken 18 wickets in 16 senior matches across the T20 Blast and One-Day Cup.
Previously on a rookie deal, Lenham has signed a multi-year pro contract as a reward for his progress in 2021.
"I was delighted and thrilled to sign my first full contract," said the Bede's pupil. "I’ve really enjoyed this season so far and have felt that almost every session I’ve learned something that can improve my game in some way.
"My personal ambitions for the next few years are to keep improving and keep helping Sussex win games of cricket and hopefully some trophies."
Lenham could cap the campaign with a piece of silverware, having helped Sussex Sharks reach the Blast quarter-finals, where they will face Yorkshire.
Championship and one-day coach Ian Salisbury added: "The last few months have made it plain to see what a hugely exciting young player Archie is.
"He epitomises the reason we all get into cricket: having fun playing a game we love. He relishes every challenge that is put in front of him, and he has the dedication and skill with both bat and ball to succeed as a professional."
T20 chief James Kirtley said: "As with all our young players we need to be mindful of their development not just as cricketers, but as young men and we will continue to support him in every way and in the best way we can."
