Lucknow: Sunrisers Hyderabad 121-8, Lucknow Super Giants 127-5 - Lucknow Super Giants win by five wickets

Sunrisers Hyderabad's poor start to this year's Indian Premier League continued as they were well beaten for a second game in succession.

Five days after a hammering at the hands of Rajasthan Royals, they lost heavily once again, this time against Lucknow Super Giants, who restricted Aiden Markram's side to just 121 for 8 before chasing down their meagre target with four overs to spare.

Sunrisers managed just 10 fours and three sixes in an innings that struggled to get going, with Harry Brook falling for just three and Rahul Tripathi eating up 41 balls for his 34.

Washington Sundar struggled to 16 off 28 deliveries as spin dominated. Krunal Pandya took 3 for 18, veteran leggie Amit Mishra picked up 2 for 23 and Ravi Bishnoi conceded just 16 runs in his allocation, having Brook stumped for good measure.

Markram, who missed Hyderabad's season opener and was coming into the IPL off the back of 175 against the Netherlands, fell to his first ball of the season.

In reply, Lucknow were never in any trouble. Adil Rashid took the wickets of KL Rahul, who top-scored in the match with 35, and Romario Shepherd.

But Sunrisers' bowlers had little to work with as Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis put the finishing touches to a straightforward win for Lucknow, who hardly had to leave second gear.
