Sri Lanka have been left sweating over the fitness of fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera after he limped out of his side's 79-run victory over UAE on Tuesday.

Chameera had earlier broken the back of the associate nation's top order, claiming 3 for 4 in an initial two-over burst, but he pulled up as he ran in for the final delivery of his fourth over and left the field.

The 30-year-old has only just recovered from an ankle injury, which spread to his calf and forced him out of Sri Lanka's victorious Asia Cup campaign last month.

"Obviously we need to keep an eye on him," said Chris Silverwood, Sri Lanka's head coach.

"The medical team will be watching him overnight, then potentially having a scan tomorrow and we'll make a plan from there, really. But let's get all the information in first and find out exactly where we're at and we'll have to make a plan."

At the post-match presentation, captain Dusan Shanaka added: "Hopefully, I think everything will be fine."

Shanaka completed Chameera's over, which had already proven eventful, with UAE tailender Junaid Siddique swinging him for a 109-metre six that cleared the roof at Kardinia Park in Geelong.

Sri Lanka can ill-afford more misfortune on the seam-bowling front, having already lost Dilshan Madushanka to injury in the final training session before the start of their campaign. He has been replaced in the squad by fellow left-armer Binura Fernando.
