Tom Kohler-Cadmore will maintain his gung-ho approach going forward but warns it may "have people tearing their hair out".

The Somerset batter went to his 11th first-class hundred against Northamptonshire at Taunton thanks to a thrilling assault across days two and three.

Kohler-Cadmore built the foundations for the landmark score with an unbeaten 95 from just 71 deliveries on the second day.

The innings is a just reward for the 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batter who spent the winter across franchise leagues including the Abu Dhabi T10 League, Lanka and Bangladesh Premier Leagues, International League T20 and Pakistan Super League.

As county cricketers up and down the country attempt to lace the new tactics employed by England's Test team with their own natural game, Kohler-Cadmore - who is striking at 80.84 in the opening rounds of the Championship -  is clear on his approach, though admits it may come at a cost.

"I have wanted to bat like that all season," Kohler-Cadmre, who was dismissed for 130 in the third afternoon, told the ECB Reporters Network at the close on Friday (May 5). "Some days you get off to quicker starts than others, but I like to think that if I face 40 balls I can score significantly, rather than scratch around for five runs.

"I am going to play some shots that will have people tearing their hair out and maybe suffer some awful dismissals. But for me, it is all about making sure I am confident and fully committed.

"If I had been tentative with that first shot it would have ended up in a slip's hands. Because I was fully committed to it, the ball flew over the slips."
