Winchester College put in an excellent all-round performance to beat Scarborough College by 15 runs and earn their first victory of The Cricketer Schools 100 tournament.

Wilf la Fontaine Jackson - who hit 48 against Canterbury on Saturday - put on 70 with Chris Batten (26) for the first wicket to give Winchester College the perfect platform from which to post a sizeable total.

The opener struck a 32-ball 40 which was constructed with a pleasing blend of textbook form and all-out aggression.

Patrick Ritchie (12) and Dom Hall (15) kept the scoreboard ticking to ensure Scarborough would be chasing in excess of 100.

Winchester showed great control with the ball to stifle the chase early on. Paddy Fisher - who took 2 for 10 against Canterbury Academy on Saturday - claimed the wicket of Thomas Easterby for 3 and conceded just one run from his opening 15 deliveries.

Fisher would finish with fine figures of 1 for 8, which would have been 1 for 2 had it not been for Romario Roach launching his penultimate ball for an enormous six down on one knee over long off.

Roach unfurled another massive leg-side six off Zain Malik as he threatened to resurrect Scarborough's innings.

Enter Zach Roberts. On a day which had seen spin inflicting a lot of the damage on a tricky pitch, seamer Roberts had Roach caught behind and removed Cian Dickinson for 1 in the space of five balls.

Romario Brathwaite was the third and final man to fall to Roberts - who finished with figures of 3 for 7 - as Scarborough lost wickets at regular intervals.

Callum Whillock bowled Hayden Williams for 1 and Gregor Fraser was run out by Seb Morgan as Scarborough's chase stuttered towards a total of 93 for 8.

After losing their opening fixture, Winchester fired out a warning shot against a Scarborough side fresh off the back of two wins on day one of the tournament.
