It was an important victory for Canford ahead of what appears to be a crunch match against Epsom College
An authoritative batting display from Canford School ensured they kept pace at the top of The Cricketer Schools 100 table with an impressive win over Dean Close School.
Canford were stuck in first by their opposition from Gloucestershire as day three of the tournament started on a fresh wicket.
But after the early loss of George Guirdham, the Dorset side made good early progress, with Dil Howell (45 not out) joining with Seb Rowland (31) and Sam Martin (28 not out) to build Canford to a strong 119 for 2 from their 100 balls.
Dean Close needed a solid start but they lost both openers in the first three overs and by the end of the ninth over they had mustered just 26 runs, with Raffi Organ, Charlie Pallot and Sam Reeve all going at less than a run a ball.
Charlie Watkins finished on 35 not out and Joseph Tuttey 21 as Dean Close made a recovery to 81 for 4 at the close.
It was an important win for Canford ahead of what appeared to be a crunch match against Epsom College – also unbeaten on two wins from two – later in the day.
