Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran sign up for SA20 2024

The competition is scheduled to take place in January, with at least part of it set to overlap with England's Test trip to India. However, the majority of the English players who have so far committed to the SA20 are unlikely to feature on that tour

A host of English players have already been signed up for the second season of the SA20.

England white-ball captain Jos Buttler, along with international stars like Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran and Moeen Ali will all feature in the South African T20 franchise tournament in 2024.

The competition is scheduled to take place in January, with at least part of it set to overlap with England's Test trip to India.

However, the majority of the English players who have so far committed to the SA20 are unlikely to feature on that tour. 

Buttler returns to Paarl Royals, while Moeen is joined at Joburg Super Kings by Essex seamer Sam Cook.

MI Cape Town have kept hold of Curran and Livingstone, and Tom Banton will also be on their roster for the new campaign, while Liam Dawson and Dawid Malan head to defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Reece Topley is headed for Durban Super Giants.

Livingstone missed the 2023 tournament through injury, while Moeen, Banton, Dawson and Malan were all involved in the ILT20 in the UAE.

Of the England contingent, Moeen and Curran are the most likely to come into the selection conversation for the India series.

The SA20's pre-signing window is effectively now closed, ahead of September's draft. However, until July 31, teams can still trade South African players, retain overseas players from their 2023 squads, or buy out players on multi-year deals. 

SA20 franchises have been allowed to increase their salary pots for the second season of the tournament, with an additional £250,000 available to each side to assemble their squad.
