Durban: Joburg Super Kings 190-6, Durban Super Giants 174-5 - Joburg Super Kings won by 16 runs
An impressive SA20 debut half-century from Donovan Ferreira proved the difference as Joburg Super Kings got their campaign off to a winning start at Kingsmead.
Ferreira, who impressed during the recent CSA T20 Challenge, wasted no time showing what he is all about in front of a global audience, as he cracked 82 not out from 40 balls to lift the Super Kings to 190 for 6 batting first in Durban.
And that proved to be beyond the chasing Super Giants, despite the best efforts of their captain Quinton de Kock.

De Kock made 78 from 52 balls, with five sixes, and shared in a first-wicket partnership worth 98 with Kyle Mayers, but Durban could not last the pace and ended up 16 runs short.
Earlier, Joburg had made a slovenly start to their innings, as they struggled through the powerplay. Janneman Malan and Reeza Hendricks both fell for single-figure scores, while Faf du Plessis scrapped for a 33-ball 39 as the visitors limped to 27 for 4 from six overs.
Ferreira, batting at No.6, injected energy into the innings. He smashed eight fours and five sixes in his 58-minute stay at the crease, and put on 87 in 5.5 overs with Romario Shepherd, who made 40 in the blink of an eye, clearing the ropes four times.

Durban faced the challenge of needing a Kingsmead record chase for victory, and for a while it looked like they might do it, as Mayers and de Kock tucked in.
The partnership was broken by Aaron Phangiso in the 11th over, however, and while de Kock persevered, the rest of the Super Giants' order offered little support.
Hendricks contributed a crucial and miserly spell of four overs for just 14 runs, while Alzarri Joseph impressed with 2 for 30 from his allocation.
