The Cricketer rates the individual performances of every player during the second ODI between South Africa and England
Quinton de Kock (31): A painful day at the office for the wicketkeeper, who left the ground for an X-ray on his right thumb after being hit while keeping; he was deemed fit enough to bat and was going along nicely when he picked out deep square leg 6
Temba Bavuma (109): Fabulous knock from the Proteas' captain, responding to his omission from the SA20 in style by hitting all over the ground; he was in total control until a bout of cramp just prior to bringing up a deserved century 9
Rassie van der Dussen (38): Involved in a tetchy exchange with Buttler and looked focused on a second big score of the series, but reverse-swept to backward point just after Bavuma's dismissal 6
Aiden Markram (49; 1-26): Undone by a super Rashid googly one short of what would have been a fine fifty; earlier, his off-spin had accounted for Brook 6
Heinrich Klaasen (27): Took over the gloves from de Kock and did the job tidily, before falling for 27 to a fine catch from Buttler, his fellow wicketkeeper 6
David Miller (58*): Clinical as anything; perfection from South Africa's finisher, who ended the game with an authoritative stroke over long-off for six 8

Marco Jansen (32*; 1-67): Fought back well from an expensive initial burst, though still the most expensive of South Africa's bowlers; batted superbly in a pressure situation and has seen his batting stock rise since the start of the SA20 7
Wayne Parnell (1-54): Bowled beautifully with the new ball and was effective at the death too; trapped Malan in front and thought he had Roy before a successful review 6
Keshav Maharaj (1-51): Not at his best in this series; smashed by Brook and struggled to maintain his length; posed little threat after having Duckett caught in the deep 4
Anrich Nortje (2-64): Bowled quickly and dismissed Moeen at a crucial time, returning in the final over to prevent further carnage by having Curran caught behind; England played his bouncer better than on Friday 5
Lungi Ngidi (1-66): Superb with the new ball, when he found prodigious movement, but hammered at the death by Buttler and Curran before limping off after his last over 4

Jason Roy (9): No shame in being cleaned up by a beauty from Lungi Ngidi, throwing in a nip-backer after attacking Roy primarily with away-swingers at a time when the pitch was at its toughest 3
Dawid Malan (12): Bopped Ngidi for six over midwicket but was trapped in front by Parnell in testing conditions for any opener 3
Ben Duckett (20): Rare rush of blood from the left-hander, who took on long-on with his first ball against Maharaj and couldn't clear him; his customary sweeps might have been the better option, though he was perhaps perturbed by the amount of bounce on offer 3
Harry Brook (80): Sick with himself when he sliced a catch to deep cover but played beautifully before then, picking up length brilliantly early to take Maharaj over wide long-on and driving beautifully through extra cover 8
Jos Buttler (94*): Left frustrated by how little of the strike he saw at the back-end of England's innings, but a terrific knock from the touring captain; powerless as his bowlers went round the park 8.5
Moeen Ali (51; 0-32): A first fifty since 2017 was not before time, particularly now batting in the top six following Ben Stokes' ODI retirement – a fine innings 7

Chris Woakes (14; 0-60): Expensive with the ball, with little lateral movement on offer for the allrounder, who could only wish that England had bowled first 3
Sam Curran (28; 1-60): Three sixes in a useful late cameo but unable to stem the flow of runs with the ball; ended Bavuma's innings by forcing him to deflect onto his stumps and then gave an elaborate send-off to the South African captain 5
Adil Rashid (0*; 2-72): Bowled Markram with a beautiful googly but struggled to halt South Africa's scoring rate 5
Olly Stone (2-48): On a day that wasn't for bowlers, a terrific effort from the fast bowler, who was the only English seamer to find pace and steep bounce from the surface; reminiscent of Liam Plunkett in his pomp 7
Reece Topley (0-74): Not at his best and offered Buttler little control either with the new ball or later on 3
