Prithvi Shaw is to see a specialist in London after his stint as an overseas player at Northamptonshire was curtailed by a knee problem.
The India batter, who smashed 244 against Somerset and an unbeaten 125 against Durham in the One-Day Cup, suffered the injury while fielding against Durham, before scan results revealed the issue to be worse than first believed.
"In his short stint Prithvi has made a huge impact on us as a club," said Northamptonshire head coach John Sadler. "It's a huge shame he won't be with us for the remainder of this comp.
"He's an extremely humble young man, he's very respectful and had been so grateful for the opportunity to represent Northamptonshire."

Shaw, 23, leaves Wantage Road as the leading run-scorer in the tournament, with 429 runs to his name across four innings.
His 244 was the highest List A score made by a Northamptonshire player; there have been just five higher individual scores in white-ball cricket. He is the first player to make two List A double hundreds in different countries.
"As well as his performances on the field he had a huge impact in our dressing room," added Sadler. "Nobody wanted to win games more than him and he contributed to us doing so. We wish him well and hope to see him scoring runs again soon."
