Sophie Ecclestone is among the very best spinners in women's cricket: a three-format England international with well over 100 caps to her name, the leading wicket-taker at the 2022 Women's Cricket World Cup (she had 21 wickets while second-placed Shabnim Ismail had 14), and a record-breaker, taking 56 international wickets in all formats in 2022.

Ecclestone represented Cheshire before making her Lancashire debut in 2015. She was Lancashire Thunder's leading wicket-taker in the KSL, taking 39 wickets and maintaining an economy of 6.16 in 30 matches.

Her appearances for Thunder since the regional restructuring in 2020 have been restricted by England commitments, but she has still picked up 17 wickets in seven appearances (2020-2022).
