Abtaha Maqsood has committed her future to Sunrisers after putting pen to paper on a new contract.

The spinner, who made her debut for the region in 2022, has made 23 appearances across the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the Charlotte Edwards Cup, taking 19 wickets.

The 24-year-old has also represented Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, taking six wickets in 15 matches, and has 37 T20I caps for Scotland. With 40 wickets, she is her country's leading wicket-taker in the Women's T20Is.

"I'm so honoured and excited to have the opportunity to continue to represent Sunrisers. I have learned a lot from being around the players and coaches this year, and have really enjoyed being able to work on my cricket full time," she said.

"I can't wait to continue to work with Andy, who has been a great addition to our coaching team this year, as well as being a brilliant spin bowling coach to work closely with. I've always loved playing with this team, and I can't wait to get going again this winter!"

Head coach, Andy Tennant, added: "She's become an integral part of our bowling attack. She works so hard on her game every day, and is impressing day in day out.

"Abtaha's quality and technical ability has been on show for all to see this year, and for her to take the first competitive Sunrisers five-for was a special moment."
