Rajasthan Royals have signed bowler Tabraiz Shamsi for the remainder of the 2021 Indian Premier League.
The South African spinner replaces Australian AJ Tye, who didn’t make an appearance during the first half of the tournament.
Shamsi, who is the ICC number one-ranked T20 bowler, has taken 183 T20 wickets and has a career economy of 7.18.
He has previously represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, taking three wickets in four appearances for the franchise in 2016.
The 2021 IPL, which was suspended on May 4 due to rising Covid-19 cases in both the tournament’s bio-secure bubble and India itself, will resume on September 19 in the UAE.
Rajasthan Royals are currently fifth in the standings, lying two points behind fourth-placed Mumbai Indians with seven matches remaining.
