Iftikhar Ahmed has warmed up for the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League by hitting six sixes in an over during a warm-up match ahead of the tournament.

The 32-year-old Pakistan middle-order batter belted Wahab Riaz over the rope in ruthless fashion in the final over of the Gladiators' innings.

It began with Iftikhar thrashing a full toss over deep backward square leg before pulling the ball over the boundary for successive sixes.

As Wahab adjusted his length, his countryman battered him over long off and then sliced him over deep third.

Two near-identical shots followed - maximums slapped over deep backward point - to complete the set in style.

Gladiators finished on 184 for 5 from their 20 overs, with Iftikhar 94 not out.

Wahab's impressive figures were taken apart, leaving him with 3 for 47.

In a dramatic finish to the game in front of a packed out crowd at the Bugti Stadium, Naseem Shah produced the goods at the death to bowl Gladiators to a three-run victory.

The eighth edition of the PSL gets underway from February 13, with defending champions Lahore Qalandars facing Multan Sultans - a repeat of last season's final.

Gladiators and Zalmi will renew their rivalry on February 20 in Karachi before their second group meeting in Rawalpindi on March 8.
