Quetta Gladiators will be without Shahid Afridi for at least the first week of the Pakistan Super League season after the allrounder tested positive for Covid-19.

Afridi, who moved to Quetta from Multan Sultans after PSL6, will isolate at home as per PCB protocols.

Local media report the veteran could miss the entire Karachi leg of the competition, which begins on Thursday.

Matches will take place at the National Stadium until February 7 before the tournament relocates to Lahore.

Quetta are due to get their campaign under way against Peshawar Zalmi on Friday, and are due to play five matches in Karachi.

Afridi, meanwhile, will need to submit a negative test to return to the Gladiators camp at the end of his quarantine period.

Quetta general manager Azam Khan was quoted by Pakistani media as saying that the allrounder is asymptomatic.
