Naseem Shah, the Islamabad United and Pakistan seamer, has been punished after kicking the stumps during the Pakistan Super League win over Multan Sultans.

The incident took place at the end of the Multan innings during which they made 228 for 4 from their 20 overs.

The 21-year-old bowled the final over - which had included Usman Khan bringing up his century - conceding nine as part of figures of 1 for 31.

And with the innings at an end he struck the stumps with his left foot in sight of on-field umpires Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Muhammad Asif.

The offence was deemed to be a breach of Article 2.2 relating to "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings".

Naseem pleaded guilty to the charge and punishment brought by match referee Roshan Mahanama, meaning there was no requirement for a formal hearing.

In addition, Multan were also fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the match, having fallen one short of their target during the chase. Each player has been fined 10 per cent of their match fee.

United went on to win by three wickets, with Naseem out in the middle when Imad Wasim struck the winning runs via the final delivery to clinch a third win in four games.
