AB de Villiers is to be released from the Lahore Qalandars squad and will not take part in the Pakistan Super League next year.

De Villiers captained Qalandars in 2019, and contributed 218 runs from seven appearances, but has opted out of a return in 2020.

He told ESPNcricinfo: "Just managing workload. On-off as much as possible."

The former South Africa international last played top-level cricket for Middlesex in the T20 Blast in August.

He is due to join Brisbane Heat for the second half of the Big Bash season after Christmas, and will be involved in Royal Challenger Bangalore's IPL campaign in April and May.

The PSL draft is scheduled to take place on December 6. Teams have until December 1 to announce their eight player retentions.
