West Indies cricket legends to tour UK in celebration of T20 World Cup

West Indian cricket knights are set to tour the UK in celebration of a monumental summer for the sport in the Caribbean.

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority will host three evenings with Sir Viv Richards, Sir Curtly Ambrose, Sir Richie Richardson and Sir Andy Roberts at Lord's, Glasgow and Headingley later this month.

The four, who are all from Antigua and Barbuda, will appear alongside dignitaries to celebrate the twin island nation's rich cricketing legacy and its role as a host of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, in what promises to be an unforgettable showcase of the country’s cricketing prowess and vibrant culture.

Sir Richie and Sir Curtly's band Spirited will also set the stage ablaze with infectious energy at all three events.

The tour will kick off with a black-tie gala in The Thomas Lord Suite at Lord's on Tuesday 23rd April, where guests will be treated to a delectable three-course Caribbean inspired dinner, carefully curated to showcase the rich culinary heritage of the islands.

The Cricketer's own chief correspondent George Dobell will also host a Q&A session with the cricketing knights to give guests an exclusive opportunity to get up close and personal with the three legends of the game.

On Wednesday 24th April, the West Indies royalty will then head to Glasgow's iconic Drygate Brewery to celebrate Scotland’s qualification for the T20 World Cup.

They will be joined by members of the Scottish team, who will play in Antigua and Barbuda against Oman on Sunday 9th June, along with board members, official partners, officers, officials and VIP guests.

Guests can enjoy a Caribbean inspired drinks reception and buffet, alongside a Q&A session and photo opportunity with the international cricketers, past and present, who will be there on the night.

The Headingley event on Thursday 25th April will mark a return for to Yorkshire CCC for Sir Richie, who became the first West Indian to represent the county in 1993.

There, he will answer questions alongside his compatriots, while guests will also be treated to a delectable three-course meal.

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup will take place from 1st to 29th June, 2024, where Antigua and Barbuda will play host to eight exciting matches at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Cricket legend Sir Richie Richardson invites fans worldwide to experience the tournament, which he assures will be "Out of this World!.

Known proudly as the 'Year of Cricket' for Antigua and Barbuda, the twin island nation also looks forward to hosting the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL24) from 28th August to 6th October, 2024, introducing the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. Additionally, Englands men will tour the West Indies for a white ball series in November, with matches expected across Antigua and the Caribbean.
