Pakistan will be without Haris Rauf for the remaining two Tests of the England series.

The 29-year-old made his Test debut in the 74-run defeat in Rawalpindi.

Rauf was limited to bowling just 13 overs after rolling over the ball while fielding.

After undergoing an MRI scan on day one, subsequent assessment by PCB medical staff has concluded the quick bowler has suffered a grade two strain of his right quad.

In a statement, the PCB confirmed Rauf "will travel to Lahore where he will begin his rehabilitation at the National High Performance Centre".

Already confirmed to miss the second Test in Multan starting on Friday (December) and the conclusion of the series in Karachi (December 17) will also come too soon for the fast bowler.

It is a further blow to Pakistan, whose captain Babar Azam is already without Shaheen Shah Afridi after he underwent an appendectomy following the T20 World Cup.

England dismantled what remained of Pakistan's attack in Rawalpindi, hitting a record-breaking 506 runs on day one with four batters recording centuries.

The tourists' first innings 657 was the second-highest total Pakistan have conceded in a Test on home shores and laid the foundations to go 1-0 up in the series.

Mohammad Wasim Jr is the natural replacement from the squad but it would mean handing a Test debut to a fifth player in just two Tests.

More experienced options, such as Hassan Ali or Mohammad Abbas who have played 46 Tests between them, were not named in the squad for the series.
