Nottinghamshire leg-spinner Calvin Harrison has extended his contract with the county, having initially signed on a short-term basis.

Harrison has taken 12 wickets in the T20 Blast since arriving at Trent Bridge, with his performances leading to a new deal that will take him through to the end of the 2023 season.

The 22-year-old’s economy rate of 6.68 is the third-best of anyone to have taken more than 10 wickets in the competition.

“It has been a case of continual development from a performance perspective while I have been here, and I am very excited at the prospect of staying for two more years with top-class players and coaches,” said Harrison.

"I am incredibly grateful for the welcome my teammates have given me in the last few months, particularly Steven Mullaney who, as captain, has given me the backing to perform.

“It’s a club with a terrific history, and Trent Bridge is an amazing place to play cricket. Even with a reduced capacity, it has felt full with so much energy, and I can’t wait to see what that buzz is like when it is packed.

“I think I can contribute in red and white-ball cricket, and across all disciplines. I’m pleased to have got to the point where I can extend my stay here, but the work will continue to keep improving my game, and to help Notts win trophies.”

Among several fine individual performances so far, Harrison clinched a tie for Nottinghamshire against Derbyshire by conceding just six runs in the final over, while claiming three wickets against Leicestershire and taking a triple-wicket maiden in a victory over Birmingham Bears.

“Calvin has really impressed us during his time at the club so far, both in the second XI and more recently in the Blast,” added Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moores.

Harrison previously made his tournament debut in 2020 for Hampshire.
