Hollie Armitage made her long-awaited international debut in unanticipated circumstances, replacing Sarah Glenn as a concussion substitute in Nelson.
Glenn banged her head as she fell at mid-off, having dropped a chance to dismiss Bernadine Bezuidenhout on 26.
Initially, the leg-spinner stayed on the field, and she promptly dismissed Suzie Bates in her only over with the ball.
But she then left the field, with Heather Knight bowling three overs to complete Glenn's allocation.
Armitage is far from like-for-like with Glenn, albeit the Northern Diamonds captain does bowl leg-spin. The 26-year-old is a batter first and foremost, though.

She has spent much of her winter in New Zealand, playing in the country's Super Smash competition, and she was named in England's squad for the first three T20Is of this series, ahead of the return of England's WPL players for the fourth and fifth matches of the series.
Armitage told The Cricketer before the series that she was simply "extremely grateful to have been thought of" for the squad. She has previously played for England at every age-group and development level.
"This is something I still had ambitions for; it was always a goal of mine," she said.
An ECB statement confirmed: "Sarah Glenn had a head injury assessment (HIA) and hasn't passed. Sarah will be assessed later today to determine next steps."
There is precedent for this; in 2022, Matt Parkinson made his men's Test debut as a mid-match concussion substitute after Jack Leach banged his head while diving in the field.
