The 28-year-old made medical staff aware of the issue after the first one-day international defeat to Australia in Sydney
Lockie Ferguson has been placed in self-isolation away from his New Zealand teammates and will undergo tests after reporting a sore throat following the first one-day international against Australia in Sydney.
The 28-year-old will undergo tests after complaining of the issue having played in the 71-run defeat at the SCG.
His return to the squad will be dependent on the result from the examination. The second and third ODIs are scheduled for Sunday (March 15) and next Friday (March 20) in Hobart.
Ferguson finished with 2-60 from his nine overs and scored just a single with the bat as the Black Caps fell 1-0 behind in the series.
The news of Ferguson's confinement comes after Australia quick Kane Richardson was tested for coronavirus after complaining of a sore throat himself having returned home from the South Africa ODI tour.
Richardson tested negative and was free to join up with his teammates at the SCG, though he did not feature in the clash.
