New Zealand Cricket announced on Monday that the 28-year-old from Auckland, who has not been named, will be prevented from gaining entry to all domestic and international cricket in the country until 2022
The fan who racially abused Jofra Archer during a Test match between New Zealand and England has been banned for two years.
New Zealand Cricket have announced that the 28-year-old from Auckland, who has not been named, will be prevented from gaining entry to all domestic and international cricket in the country until 2022.
Archer was targeted for abuse during the final day of the match at Bay Oval in November, resulting in a complaint being raised with Tauranga police.
A man was subsequently issued with a verbal warning after admitting responsibility for using insulting language.
NZC have taken the issue a step further, however, by issuing a countrywide ban on the individual attending matches.

Spokesman Anthony Crummy said if the man breached the conditions of his ban and attended a fixture he would be removed from the venue and could become subject to further police action.
“We’d again like to extend our apologies to Jofra and the England team management for such an unsavoury incident and reiterate once more that this type of behaviour is completely unacceptable,” said Crummy.
NZC stated that they remain committed to tackling offensive language and behavior at their venues, with anti-racist messages posted on signs around the grounds, on big screens, and delivered by announcers.
Fans are also encouraged to use NZC’s text alert system to notify security of anti-social behaviour, including racist abuse.
“We want to thank the NZ police for their efforts in identifying the person responsible, and for making it clear that this type of behaviour will not be minimised,” Crummy said.
