The 26-year-old spinner has taken 144 wickets in 40 career first-class appearances and has one red-ball cap for Pakistan
Gloucestershire have signed Pakistan international Zafar Gohar for the remainder of the LV= Insurance County Championship season, with the spinner available for four Division Two matches.
The 26-year-old burst onto the international stage during a Pakistan youth tour to England in 2013, taking 18 wickets at 11.44 in the tri-series also involving Bangladesh, before making his ODI debut against England in 2015.
Gohar then added a Test cap to his name in January 2021, making his debut against New Zealand in Christchurch.
He has taken 144 wickets at 29.67 in 40 career first-class appearances to date.
Gohar will be available to play in Gloucestershire’s second XI match against Glamorgan on August 23, and could make his first-team debut against Northamptonshire a week later.
Commenting on signing for Gloucestershire, Gohar said: "Having spent a lot of time in the UK in the past few years, it is a dream come true to play county cricket. Gloucestershire are a fantastic club with a rich history, and I’m looking forward to hopefully playing my part in ensuring the season finishes on a high."
Interim coach, Ian Harvey, added: "I’m delighted that Zafar has agreed to join us for the remainder of the season. We have had a strong campaign in the four-day competition and Zafar will help us finish the season well with his bowling skills.
"He is an exciting spinner and I’m looking forward to seeing him add a new dimension to our County Championship squad."
