Will Jacks has been ruled out of the remainder of England's white-ball tour of Bangladesh due to a thigh injury.

The 24-year-old allrounder was handed his ODI debut on March 1, scoring 26 runs and taking one wicket, and also featured in the second ODI two days later.

However, he reported feeling discomfort in his left leg during Friday's match and is set to return to England "in the next 48 hours".

He was a late addition to the ODI squad, hotfooting it from New Zealand where he had been a non-playing member of the Test side to replace Tom Abell (side strain). His name is in the hat for selection for England's Cricket World Cup title defence later this year thanks to his explosive batting.

Jacks had also been named in England's squad for the three-match T20I series later in March. No replacement has been confirmed.

An ECB spokesperson said: "Will Jacks has been ruled out of the remainder of the tour of Bangladesh after suffering a left thigh injury while fielding during the second ODI in Dhaka.

"Jacks will fly home in the next 48 hours to begin his recovery."

Jacks is due to represent Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming IPL campaign after being picked up for £320,000 at auction. It remains to be seen if this injury will hinder his involvement.
