West Indies have named their squad for the opening two ODIs against England, with Hayley Matthews in line to walk out as captain.

The allrounder, who has led the side in five T20Is and three ODIs this year as well as leading Barbados at the Commonwealth Games, stands in for Stafanie Taylor who is absent through injury.

Deandra Dottin is another notable absentee after retiring from international cricket earlier this year but senior duo Kycia Knight and Shemaine Campbelle return to the squad after missing West Indies' recent series against New Zealand – in North Sound, West Indies lost both the ODI (2-1) and T20I (3-1) series.

Seamers Shakera Selman, who will serve as vice-captain, and Chinelle Henry will lead the bowling attack while uncapped left-arm spinner Kaysia Schultz has been included in the 14-strong squad.

Shamilia Connell, Kyshona Knight, Natasha McLean and Jannillea Glasgow have lost their places following the New Zealand series.

Lead selector, Ann Browne-John, said: "The return of Shemaine Campbelle and Kycia Knight to the ODI squad after missing the last series due to injury will bolster the team in the absence of the experienced Stafanie Taylor who is still recuperating from injury sustained during September's series against New Zealand.

"The CG United ODI matches are vital as points earned will take us a step closer towards automatic qualification for the next ICC Women’s World Cup in 2025.

"This series against England comes on the heels of the New Zealand tour to the West Indies and continues our important preparation for the upcoming Tri Series against India and South Africa and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup to follow. It gives the players a great opportunity to develop and push for final selection for the Tri Series and World Cup."

West Indies and England are scheduled to contest three ODIs in Antigua, with the first match taking place on December 4.The first of five T20Is will also take place in at the Sir Viv Richards Cricket Ground (December 11) before the series relocates to Barbados' Kensington Oval.

West Indies squad (first two ODIs): Hayley Matthews (c), Shakera Selman (vc), Aaliyah Alleyne, Shemaine Campbelle, Afy Fletcher, Cherry Ann Fraser, Shabika Gajnabi, Sheneta Grimmond, Chinelle Henry, Kycia Knight, Chedean Nation, Karishma Ramharack, Kaysia Schultz, Rashada Williams
