Sussex's busy off-season has continued with the retention of batter Tom Clark.

The new deal, the length of which is undisclosed, comes after the left-hander enjoyed an impressive 2022 summer.

Clark scored 1,044 runs across the County Championship and Royal London Cup in his most fruitful campaign since first signing professional terms.

A successful campaign included registering his maiden red-ball centuries in both competitions Nottinghamshire and Surrey, respectively.

Part of England's Under-19 World Cup campaign in 2020, Clark has played 37 first-class and List A matches, but is yet to play a senior T20.

"I'm delighted to have signed a contract extension with my home club and I feel proud to be part of what should be a very exciting few years to come," said the academy graduate.

"Hopefully as a team we can bring success and silverware back to Hove in the near future and there is a sense of excitement and expectation to do so."

News of the deal comes just days after confirmation of Steve Smith's move to Sussex for three County Championship matches.

Director of pathways and partnerships Keith Greenfield, added: "It's great that Tom has signed an extension with the Club.

"Tom is another example of a promising young player that has emerged from the pathway and broken into the first team.

"He had a great season last year and we expect more to come from him in 2023."
