South Africa batsman Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the remainder of the Proteas’ ODI series against Australia.
The 29-year-old has been withdrawn from Quinton de Kock’s squad as a precaution while he continues his conditioning and rehabilitation following a hamstring strain.
He missed the T20I series against Australia with the issue, but returned for the first ODI. Bavuma made 26 in the game at Boland Park, Paarl, in a 74-run win for de Kock’s men.
He will remain with the squad in the meantime, despite not being available for selection, with the objective of being ready to travel to India on Sunday morning for a three-match 50-over series.
Rassie van der Dussen has been brought into the squad as cover. He arrived in Bloemfontein on Wednesday morning, but was not included in the side to take on Aaron Finch’s team at Mangaung Oval in their second clash of their series.
