England bowler Stuart Broad has been nominated for BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.
Broad, 34, has 514 Test wickets and passed the 500 mark during the series against West Indies earlier in the year. In five matches against both West Indies and Pakistan last summer, Broad took a staggering 29 wickets at an average of 13.41.
He has been a key member of the England Test team since he made his debut against Sri Lanka 2007.
His career-best figures of 8-15 came during the 4th Ashes Test at Trent Bridge in 2015, helping England bowl Australia out for 60 on the opening morning.
Broad has reacted to the news by tweeting: “Such a huge honour to be nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2020. Thanks @gregjames & @thebodycoach for announcing.”
Fellow England bowler and the country’s leading Test wicket taker James Anderson tweeted: “Recognition for an incredible year! Well done @StuartBroad8”.
The public will vote for the winner during the BBC One show on December 20.
