Left-arm pace bowler Spencer Johnson has committed to Brisbane Heat until 2026 after signing a two-year contract extension.

This comes after he helped Brisbane Heat reach the final in 2022/23, taking nine wickets in his debut Big Bash campaign.

Johnson originally signed a two-year contract after he came through the KFC T20 Max tournament last summer, impressing for Redlands.

After featuring 10 times for the Heat, Johnson was rewarded with a call-up to South Australia's one-day and Sheffield Shield squads as well as earning a spot on Australia A's tour of New Zealand.

Johnson said: "I'm very pleased to commit to the Heat for the next three BBL seasons as I certainly had an enjoyable and rewarding time with the team last season.

"I was only thinking the other day that a bit over 12 months ago, I was getting ready to come up to Brisbane to play some pre-season Premier Cricket T20 games and give myself a chance of potentially landing a BBL deal."

Bennett King, Queensland Cricket's general manager said: "Extending Spencer's contract after his performances during the BBL had been one of the priorities identified in our post-tournament review and we are delighted to sign him until BBL15."
