The 18-year-old, who made his senior debut in this season's One-Day Cup, has agreed to a two-year deal until the end of 2023
Somerset have rewarded academy graduate Sonny Baker with a professional contract following his first-team breakthrough during the 2021 season.
The 18-year-old quick was handed his senior debut in the One-Day Cup and has made seven outings in the competition while nine of his teammates play in The Hundred.
Baker has claimed 10 wickets across those outings, enough to convince the Taunton club to hand him a full deal.
"Signing for Somerset is incredible," said the Torbay native, who received his A-level results this week.
"It’s the sort of thing that you dream about. It’s something I’ve worked really hard for, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s something that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
"Everything’s happened really fast. Just over a year ago I wasn’t even on the academy. Now I’ve had a taste of first-team cricket and I want more."
Director of Cricket Andy Hurry added: "It’s been really exciting to observe the development and performances of Sonny through the Academy programme, Under 18s County Age Group cricket, Second XI cricket, and most recently, the Royal London Cup.
"I’m delighted that we will have the opportunity to continue to work with him for at least the next couple of years and watch him move closer to achieving his full potential and aspirations."
