Sri Lanka batsman Shehan Jayasuriya has ended his international career, having made the decision to relocate with his family to the USA.

Jayasuriya, a top order batsman and occasional off-spinner, represented Sri Lanka 30 times in ODIs and T20Is, but has taken the decision to move abroad.

According to a statement from Sri Lanka Cricket: “He will no longer be available for the selection of domestic or international cricket tournaments with immediate effect.”

His highest score of 96 came in a 50-over match in Karachi – his solitary international half century, while he recorded 11 first-class hundreds.

His most recent international appearance came in Pallekele against West Indies in March 2020, shortly before the global game was halted by the coronavirus pandemic.

He was part of Galle Gladiators’ squad in the inaugural Lanka Premier League, helping the franchise reach the final, where they were beaten by Jaffna Stallions.

The national governing body added: “SLC, whilst thanking Jayasuriya for the services he has rendered to Sri Lanka Cricket as a player, take this opportunity to wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”
