The ex-BCCI president has opted against a third term, with his successor set to be ratified in the coming days
Shashank Manohar has left his role as ICC chairman having decided against running for a third term.
Manohar has occupied the role since first being elected in 2016, retaining the position in 2018.
The former BCCI president revealed last year his intention to leave the role, despite being eligible to run for another two years.
His replacement is expected to be ratified by the ICC Board in the next week. Only current and former ICC directors can run in the election.
During his tenure as the ICC's first independent chairman Manohar oversaw several changes including a new financial distribution model which curbed the authority of the big three nations. He also played a role in the implementation of the World Test Championship.
ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney said: “On behalf of the ICC Board and staff and the whole cricket family, I would like to thank Shashank for his leadership and everything he has done for the sport as ICC chairman. We wish him and his family all the very best for the future.”
ICC deputy chairman Imran Khwaja, who will occupy the vacant role until a replacement is elected, added: “Everyone on the ICC Board extends their wholehearted thanks to Shashank for the commitment he has shown to our sport.
"There is no doubt that cricket owes Shashank a debt of gratitude for all he has done for the sport. He has left cricket and the ICC in a better place than he found it.”
