Qalandars have re-enlisted the services of Shahid Afridi for the upcoming T10 League as an icon player.

The 40-year-old had been scheduled to represent the franchise during the third edition in 2019 but was withdrawn at the 11th hour.

Just days before the competition, the Pakistan Cricket Board blocked all current and retired players from competing in the competition.

Both of Afridi's previous outings in the T10 League have come for Pakhtoons, who no longer feature in the tournament.

"Shahid Afridi is an exciting and experienced cricketer," Qalandars chief-executive Sameen Rana, brother of Lahore Qalandars owner Fawad Rana, said. "The Qalandars family is proud to welcome him back as an icon player for this season of Abu Dhabi T10.

"We look forward to welcoming him to Qalandars family and hope that his presence will take the team to new heights in the season."

The delayed T10 League will take place from January 28-February 6 2021. Afridi is the latest icon player to be announced by one of the eight teams ahead of the player draft on December 23.

Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo are among the other star players confirmed to appear.
