The 21-year-old has moved to the Foxes after turning down a new contract to remain at Chester-le-Street
Leicestershire have secured the signing of Scott Steel from Durham on a three-year deal.
The 21-year-old rejected the chance to remain at Chester-le-Street after two years as a professional at the club.
Steel played two first-class, eight List A and 21 T20 matches for Durham after coming through the club's academy.
"I am incredibly excited to be joining Leicester," said Steel, who was an ever-present for Durham during their 2020 Blast campaign.
"It was a difficult decision to leave Durham but having spoken at length with both Paul Nixon and Sean Jarvis and I wanted to be part of what they are building at Leicestershire.
"I believe it is a very exciting time to be joining the club and I’m looking forward to next season.”
Head coach Paul Nixon added: "We’re delighted to have Scott join us at Leicestershire.
"Scott will add power to our current squad, he is a dangerous batsman who has match-winning credentials."
