Sam Evans signs Leicestershire contract extension

The 25-year-old, who made his debut for the county in 2017, has established himself as a regular performer in the first-class XI, scoring 1,445 runs at 28.33 in 32 appearances

Sam Evans has signed a contract extension with Leicestershire ahead of the 2023 season.

The 25-year-old, who made his debut for the county in 2017, has established himself as a regular performer in the first-class XI, scoring 1,445 runs at 28.33, including four centuries and six half-centuries, in 32 appearances.

Last season, he scored 457 runs (four half-centuries) at 28.56 in nine County Championship outings.

He has also made three List A appearances for the Foxes, scoring 37 runs, but his yet to make his T20 bow.

Evans, who joined the Leicestershire pathway at Under-11s, is the latest player to commit his future to the club, following new deals for the likes of Chris Wright, Nick Welch, Wiaan Mulder, and Naveen-ul-Haq.

Commenting on his extension, Evans said: "Every time I walk out onto the pitch for my hometown club, it's a dream come true. It's a feeling that will never get old.

"I love playing with this group. We're in a really positive place to push for success this season and make our fans proud."

Director of cricket, Claude Henderson, said: "Sam is a true clubman. He's very popular in the dressing room and this deal represents another opportunity for him to firmly establish himself in both red-ball and white-ball cricket."
