Richardson underwent surgery in March to address his recurring hamstring issues
Riley Meredith has joined Mumbai Indians for the remainder of the 2023 IPL as a replacement for Jhye Richardson, signing for a fee of 1.5 crore (approximately £150,000).
Richardson underwent surgery in March to address his recurring hamstring issues and will not feature for the Indians this season.
Meredith represented Mumbai Indians in the 2022 IPL, taking eight wickets at an economy of 8.42 in eight matches, but was released ahead of December's mini auction.

The Australian has previously represented Punjab Kings in the IPL, taking four wickets, and heads to India off the back of a strong Big Bash campaign. He picked up 21 wickets in 14 outings for Hobart Hurricanes.
Meredith's arrival will be a boost for the Indians' bowling attack, which was looking lean without injured pace duo Jasprit Bumrah and Richardson. Their bowlers struggled against RCB in their tournament opener, with Jofra Archer and spinner Piyush Chawla the only player to concede fewer than 12 runs per over.
He will link up with the squad ahead of their clash with Chennai Super Kings on April 8.
